Electric has been moved to get ready for the lift to be installed around Christmas. Sofas loveseats and chairs have been ordered, but will not have them in until middle to late January. We had a windy day on Wednesday with about 5 inches of rain, some of the roads flooded from so much rain so quickly and the tide was higher than normal. It was a treat for me on the way home Tuesday to see the waves along the causeway, since the gulf is normally calm. It reminded me of a snowglobe that someone shook up way too much, but without the snow. Today is cloudy, a little breezy, no rain. Friday we should be back to noraml, hot, humid and our normal afternoon rain. Hopefully everyone in Texas will be safe. Please any of our owners out that way let us know how you are. Cyndi September 6 2008 Sanibel City Council will convene a Special Emergency Meeting to consider various matters relating to the threat of Hurricane Ike Saturday, September 6, 2008 at 1:00 P.M. in MacKenzie Hall 800 Dunlop Road Public is welcome. We will post what the meeting results are when we receive them. Cyndi Hurricane Ike is currently 890 miles southeast of Sanibel traveling west-southwest near 16 mph. The forecast track has again shifted Hurricane Ike’s path further south. This general motion is expected to continue today and tonight. Current sustained maximum winds are down slightly to 110 mph but Hurricane Ike is expected to strengthen by tonight. Sanibel is still in the five day forecast cone and is expected to enter the three day forecast cone this evening. The City of Sanibel remains in preparatory phase. This is from the City of Sanibel 1:00 meeting. It looks like the track for Ike has shifted farther away from Florida from the 2:00 weather update. Let\'s hope it stays that way. The weather channel is saying they will know more about the track on Saturday. I will post any new developments as we get them. A slight turn toward the west-southwest is forecast tonight or early on Saturday. Maximum sustained winds are near 125 mph. Hurricane Ike is a dangerous category three hurricane (111mph-130 mph). Sanibel is currently in the 5 day forecast cone. The City of Sanibel is in our preparation phase as we continue to monitor Hurricane Ike and urge all residents, business owners, and visitors to closely monitor this storm and begin your own preparations. Jackie August 18 2008 The city of Sanibel issued a mandatory evacuation of tourists at 5:34pm today. They have allowed timeshare OWNERS to stay if they want. We informed them they are on their own once the winds pick up and the power goes out. We will not be able to help them if the storm gets worse. The office will not be open tomorrow morning. Tropical Storm Fay - Advisory #1 - August 16, 2008 Brad Gloer 08/16/2008 10:38 am Tropical Storm Fay is located 795 miles to the southeast of Sanibel traveling at 14 miles an hour. A turn towards the west-northwest is expected later today. Tropical Storm Fay currently has sustained winds of 45 mph with higher gusts. The machine is located between unit 109 and the office door. The weather is great, we only had a few days of rain this week, other than that it\'s sunny, hot and humid. Cyndi August 9 2007 We have a board meeting coming up Friday August 17th. It will be held at RAL\'s office in Ft. Myers. We just had all the trees trimmed on the property yesterday. New beds were delivered to all units on Saturday, July 28th. So far everyone loves them. About half of the units have new stoves in. The remaining should be installed within the next few weeks. We have several units available for rent during the next month, give us a call to make your reservations. Jackie April 28 2007 Board of Directors meeting: Friday, May 4th at 1:00PM at Surfrider Jackie April 2 2007 We have planted two new coconut palms near the tennis court, and one small adonidia palm by the pool deck. We had one tall coconut palm cut down last week, it was almost dead, and did not want it to fall on someone. We took out some old hibiscus near the office and replaced with new ones, and added some firecracker bushes to the area. Jackie January 25 2007 We had our cool front come thru, cool today, but the sun has come out. Should get to 45 degrees tonight, high for tomorrow should be 71 degrees. Anyone interested in rentals should give us a call, we have serveral units that are willing to be discounted a bit for week 5. The sliding glass doors have all been replaced. Still working out a few kinks in the locks, but they are great! The new code for these doors make the step up into the units a bit higher than the old ones, so be sure to step up & over! We are only having some rain and just a little breezy, but we had to prepare just in case. It\'s dark and gloomy today, kinda like a winter day up north. Cyndi Front Desk August 29 2006 As of 11:00 am today, Tropical Storm Ernesto is coming for a visit to Southwest Florida. Winds are at 45 mph with gusts up to 60 mph. We are under a Tropical Storm warning at this time. It is expected to hit after 10:00 pm. City of Sanibel is having an emergency meeting at 1:30 today, we will update website after meeting. We are securing the resort at this time, but have no evacuation orders at this time. Cyndi front desk 3:00 The City of Sanibel has finished their meeting, nothing new. They just ask that all residents and business owners secure anything that might get caught up in the wind. They also ask that we stay off of the roads between 10:00 pm and 10:00 am due to heavy rain and wind. The winds are suppose to be between 45 mph and 60 mph. and rain from 5 to 10 inches.
